What do dental implants really cost in Wicklow?

Implant pricing in Ireland is often a mystery until you're in the chair. We publish all our fees — so here is a plain-English guide to what an implant involves, what it typically costs, and how to claim a fifth of it back.

Why is there no single "implant price"?

A dental implant is a fixed titanium root placed into the bone that supports teeth. Over time it fuses with the bone and functions as an artificial tooth root, supporting a crown, a bridge or a denture. Because every mouth is different, the final cost depends on three components — and on what your bone and gums need before placement.

1

The implant

The titanium root placed into the jawbone — the foundation everything else is built on.

2

The abutment

The connector piece that joins the implant to the visible tooth above the gum.

3

The crown

The natural-looking porcelain tooth, shade-matched to your own teeth.

Typical costs in Ireland

Across Ireland, a complete single-tooth implant — implant, abutment and crown — typically ranges from €1,800 to €3,500, depending on the case and the clinic. Your journey at Wicklow Dental starts with a standard examination, where we assess whether an implant is right for you and give you a written, itemised quote before anything begins.

Adult exam & implant assessment (incl. 2 x-rays)€50
Single-tooth implant (typical range in Ireland)€1,800 – €3,500
Alternative: bridge (per unit)€800
Alternative: crown on existing tooth€800

Your exact quote is confirmed in writing after your assessment — no surprises, ever.

Claim 20% back with tax relief

Implants qualify as non-routine dental treatment, so you can claim 20% tax relief through Revenue using a Med 2 form — the same relief that applies to our crowns and root canal treatments. We complete the paperwork for you at the practice.

Is an implant worth it against the alternatives?

A bridge (€800 per unit) or a denture can restore a gap — and for some patients they're the right choice. But a bridge involves preparing the healthy teeth either side, and dentures need relining and replacing over the years. An implant is independent of your other teeth and, with good care, is a long-term solution. At your exam we'll talk you through all three honestly, with the costs of each on paper.

Frequently asked questions

Does getting an implant hurt?

We understand a trip to the dentist can produce anxiety — it's the first thing we address. Implant placement is done under local anaesthetic, and most patients report far less discomfort than they expected, often comparing it to a filling.

How long does the whole process take?

Typically a few months from placement to final crown, because the implant needs time to fuse with the bone. You'll have a clear timeline in writing after your assessment.

Am I suitable for an implant?

Most adults with good general and gum health are. The €50 examination — including two x-rays — tells us about your bone level and gum condition, and you'll get an honest answer either way.

Can I spread the cost?

Talk to us at your assessment — we'll always give you the full picture in writing first, including the 20% Med 2 tax relief, so you can plan with real numbers.

Start with a €50 exam — and real numbers.

Two x-rays included. Open late Tuesdays until 8pm and alternating Saturdays.
